what would most likely be the mirror that came on it?

would there have been one on both sides or just driver side?

If you look down toward the bottom of this thread you can see the dual mirrors that are correct for a 68 on my car. I got them from Fusick. Standard equipment would have been this mirror as a single mirror on the driver's side. There was also an optional remote mirror which is larger and only for the driver's side

Those are aftermarket mirrors. I remember JC Whitney used to sell them.

I have the original mirror setup on mine still. Like allyolds68 posted, the original mirrors are all silver, just like the ones on his car. But, originally there was only a mirror on the driver's side.

Yes those are aftermarket. I put the same ones on the 68 I owned back in college.

I think they were very popular because they mimicked the hugely popular '70 Sport Mirrors. Previous owner put them on my '66 Sports Coupe.
