10DN to 12SI alternator upgrade. 60 amp to 94 amp

I just completed an upgrade from my original 10DN externally regulated alternator to a 12SI internally regulated alternator. Here is the basic info so you can do it too.

I'm running a 455 with a 4 core radiator. I have dual electric fans. One fan is controlled via. a thermostat, the other, via a toggle switch at the dash (it is my auxillary fan for hot days or traffic).

When two fans were required, my 60 amp stock alternator couldn't keep up and my alternator light lit with buzzer sounding.

To upgrade, I bought an adapter from Quality Power (on the web, less than $20 including shipping) and a rebuilt 94 amp alternator from Autozone ($89). For the alt, I asked for the one called out on many web sites. (84 Chev. Camaro V8 G code).

Photos on next page.

Fit - Alternator is basically a direct fit. No problems on my 68 cutlass with '71 455 with stock brackets.

Wiring - No issues. Quality power sent a harness with directions. It was a 30 minute job complete.

Performance - No more alternator light. Several days of driving are all good.

Photos - I've added several photos. Alternator with adapter. External reg. Old ex. reg. with jumper cable.
