I cleaned up and repaired the "idiot" lights on my instrument cluster. I found the problem was as much corrosion at the contacts as bad bulbs. 194 style bulbs behind the warning lights and 168 bulbs to illuminate the dash. I found the wiring diagram on line.
Nice work. My only suggestion would be to pay the money and get an original paper Chassis Service Manual (five volume set for 1964) as opposed to using stuff on line that may or may not be correct.
Thanks Joe- I have 4 of 5 volumes, but not volume 4, I think. I can't lay my hands on them this second so I could be wrong, but I know I have the engine manual, the transmission manual, the chassis manual and the body/sheet metal manual, and I think that's the 4 of 5 I have. The docs I found on line say 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic and Super 88, Jetstar, 98 and Starfire, and they appear to be pages 3WD-290 and -291. There's a reference at the bottom of the page for PRINTED CIRCUIT DIAGRAMS page 3WD-408, and they appear to be straight out of the books- or at least, some book. Even the wire colors appear to be correct. They look to be pretty accurate, for what they are. Here's a link... https://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/...oogle_vignette
