Cigarette lighter question

This is a 69 442 with new all new wiring and the power wire to the cigarette lighter is to big. I am using the orange wire with a round white plug on end. Is this the correct wire or is my lighter missing a piece?
Thanks, Rob

Should plug right onto the end.

Do you mean that the wire's too big, or the connector's too big?

Your lighter is fine. The wiring needs a smaller connector added to it. It is possible to remove it form your old harness and solder onto the new one.
I have heard of someone else running into this problem.

The connecter on the wire is too big. I tried looking through the massive birds nest(my old harness) and couldnt find it, there is cut wires everywhere. Maybe I can find someone with an old harness that has that plug.
Thanks, Rob

Perhaps you should take this up with the vendor who sold you the repro harness? If they don't get feedback, they don't know there's a problem.

Rob, I had the same issue and had to use the original terminal and connector from an old harness. The ones on these reproduction harnesses are not correct. I'll look around to see if I have an old one but I don't think I do. If so, I'll let you know. The white plastic can be pushed off of the terminal and you can bend the brass terminal so it fits tighter. The plastic can then be slid back in place. Or, put a piece of shrink tube over the brass connector and shrink it down when you are happy with the fit and don't put the white plastic back into place. Or, maybe the plastic will slide over the heat shrink. The original connector is black and much smaller in diameter.

Hi Brian, my original connector is gone, but dont go crazy looking for one. I will try to modify mine as you said.
Thanks, Rob
