Anyone installed electric trunk release on 71 Cutlass?

I bought a nos electric trunk release kit and I am installing it. My question is how does the wire run from the glove box switch to the deck lid? I haven't been able to find it in my shop manual or assembly manual. I want to do it right. I assume it goes in with the rest of the wires thru the plastic conduit under the carpet, and the release is on the lid so it has to run thru or against the bottom of the lid?? Appreciate any help you can give. Thanks, Greg

The wire runs downbetween the heat/ac box & the floorpan on the pass side of the car. It runs in that channel under the passenger front & rear seat, is attached via the clips onto the brace behind the rear seat, then up the pass side trunk hinge & through the trunk lid to the latch area.

It goes under the carpet? There is a channel under the seats, like the channel on the drivers side? It seems kinda strange that it would be by itself unprotected under the carpet.?? I looked in the 71 service manual and there is some directions on drilling the hole for the switch and hooking up the wiring under the dash but that's all I can find. I also have a 1969 Fisher body manual and can't find anything about it. I'm sure it was a option, you would think I could find it. The kit has 3 clips that I assumed clipped the wire up in the trunk and to the deck lid but maybe they're for under the carpet. Thanks for your help. Does any one have some pics of how it runs in the trunk?

Greg,
Yeah, it runs under the carpet & under the insulation also. If your car had a rear speaker, the wire for that ran in the same place as the power trunk wire. I've removed several of these over the last 25 years & all of them have been installed this way. One of my cars has this option, I'll try to get pix soon if no one else beats me to it.

Scott, I took up the carpet on the passenger side and I don't see where it goes. (see pic) Where did you say the wire comes out to the trunk? My car didn't have rear speakers originally so no wires for those. This car is a convertible. Sorry to keep bugging you.. It sounds like you know if you have parted out some of these cars. I also searched on wild about cars to see if I could find the wire routing but no luck. Thanks again, Greg.

Greg,
These should help. As far as I can tell, these wires were factory installed & never messed with. Blue is rear speaker & black is the power trunk wire. I believe there are a couple(few?) little clips, one of which is screwed to the firewall, right about where the heat/AC box is.
