alt and starter numbers
Sorry for the delay, but the number of days I can actually get this website to respond are few and far between.
According to the 1970 Engine Assembly Manual, all Olds A-bodies with a 455 used starter number 1108389. This same starter was also used in some 1970 B- and C-bodies, and in many applications in later years, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
According to the 1970 whole-car assembly manual, a 442 with A/C or the Heavy Duty generator and cooling option used alternator 1100890, which is a 55 Amp model. All other 442s used alternator 1100880, which is a 37 Amp model. In addition to the part number, you should find the amperage and a date code stamped on it . Note that both of these alternators were specific to the 442 model. They have an internal, transistorized regulator, as opposed to all other models which used a chattering-relay regulator on the firewall.
