1956 Brake Light Problem

I have a 56 88 and the passenger-side brake light does not light (but the tail light filament does when the headlights are on). Replaced with a new bulb but still doesn't light. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The bulb should be a double filament bulb(# 1034 or #1157). One filament lights the brake light and turn signal, and the other work the taillight. Hope this helps. Larry

The contacts are spring loaded and sometimes get corroded and stuck in place. Make sure it is free and the contact moves in and out freely. I've also found that the receptacles wear over time sometimes allowing the lamp to be put in 180 out which causes a misalignment of the contacts. Lastly use a test light to verify there is voltage.
