Traction issues
I know why, one rear tire is almost bald and the other one isn't, but even that one sucks.
At the track yesterday my best time was 15.66 @ 87.01 and that was spinning the tires. The other 2 times were 17.01 and 15.861 and I lost 1st round due to poor traction.
I just had the tranny rebuilt. 2000 stall B&M shift kit, B&M rebuild kit, etc and it shifts hard. I can chirp 2nd gear
Not too many mid '80's Delta 88's can do that
I have GoodYear Eagle ST's on the rear. They came with the car. They are starting to dry rot. Can't even think about driving the car in the rain, make a right turn and the rear kicks out very easy, even below 10 MPH.
On the good side, the car is now 98% leak free. no more torque convertor leak, or oil pan gasket leak. the Valve cover gaskets are still leaking, but that's a 1 hour weekend project for me

Try 'rolling' into the throttle...
What were your 60 ft times like?
Every 1/10th you take off your 60 could translate
to 2/10ths at the top end.
Buy some MT drag radials if you can.
Dry rotted tires aren't gonna help.

In your original post it sounded like you had an open rear end. If thats the case, you should close it with a posi, ez locker, or just weld it. it doubles your traction after all. However it sounds like your having fun.
^^ Def having fun
60 foots are bad, the 15.66 run was 2.34 and the 15.81 run was 2.45
Before the tranny rebuild I had the completly bald tire on the pass side and I ran 15.51 on the brakes and still broke out.
Yes it's an open rear with 3.42's swaped in for the stock 2.73's. However we are talking about a 22 year old 26 spline axle under a 4000 lbs car. I'm worried about it breaking. It will most likey break, but the longer the better. Kinda broke right now
With that, this is also the reason I will not get DOT slicks (street class)
I never go thru the water box. I made that mistake once in the Alero. Never again.
I'm going to buy new BFG's for the rear. I remember having them on my Cougar and they stood up pretty well. Going to order them later this week from Tirerack. Shipping is only $18 and it takes a day to get to me

I would look for a limited slip rear and better tires....run the tires on the low end of proper inflation.....this may help reduce wheel spin. When you start getting a good bite is when things will start to break!
