64 cutlass axle/diff options

I’ve got a 2.79:1 gear in my 64 8.2” rear end. What options do I have in going to a different gear? And if that housing won’t fit say around a 3.73 posi unit what options do I have for another axle housing that will bolt up under the car?

That carrier is only good to a 3.23:1 gear. Would need to change carrier to go any deeper.

You can change the carrier in your 8.2" housing to accept the 3.73 gears. You don't need to change the entire housing to do that.

Ok awesome. I would need to do this anyway when swapping to a posi differential right? I have non-posi rear end now.

Correct. Just the posi carrier that matches you selected gears.
