external coil resistor

can anyone tell me if the wire from my external coil ressistor goes to pos or neg on the coil; 1971 2bbl 350 cutlass supreme. thanks, dea

The wire from the distributor (and tach, if so equipped) goes to the NEG side of the coil. All power leads (there should be two, one with the resistor and one without) go to the POS side of the coil.
