I have a 92 Olds Ciera V6 3300 3.3L 3 speed automatic MFI 160HP@5200RPM 9:0:1 auto trans. I used this as a daily driver and for road trips its been very reliable but now I was thinking I could have some fun with it. Does anyone have any ideas on improvements performance wise for this 3300 series engine? I can't really throw in a different small block. If I could, I would

They (Oldsmobile) made a GT version in the late 80's that had the Biuck 3.8, and it also had suspension upgrades. I had the Buick Century T type version which was essentially the same as your Olds. The performance was "snappy", for the 80's anyway. Your 3.3 might be from the same "family" as the 3.8, which might alow some interchange, also. I also have a Cierra now. 4 door 1990 and it was a great work car. Sadly, I blew a wrist pin and it now is slated to the junkyard. They were great reliable little cars in thier day, and I'm sure KYB still makes struts for them. I'd like to know how you make out, though. Good Luck.

 

My mom currently drives a 91 olds ciera with the 3.3L as her work car. It's got 322k miles, and still hasn't had a bit of work that wasn't scheduled stuff. Here's hoping for 400k!

 

It is really good to see people being helped! I think Pfiffle might be on to somehting there. If the 3.3 and 3.8 engines are similar, especially physically you might be able to do something there, although I would be reluctant to since I am an old school kingd of guy and the thought of changing over an engine with the entire wiring harness and computer is sort of scary to me. My wife's '92 Buick has that 3.8 engine, series II I think and it is reall peppy in a big sedan, in a little car like the Ciera it should downright cook!!!
