Eric:

Thanks for starting this thread. I believe this is going to be the best Zone Show since I have belonged to NTOC. No question the show last year was a disappointment which was due to the hotel not completing the renovation they had promised and the weather. While we will always be at the mercy of the weather, we are going to have a very nice facility this year. Tanglewood Resort is north of Dallas on Lake Texoma (https://tanglewoodresort.com/recreation/lake-texoma/ ). We will have new judging criteria which a lot of work has gone into. Cars will not be competing against each other but rather against a judging sheet. If you are unable to get a reservation in the resort or if it is a little too expensive, there is other lodging in Pottsboro and Denison which are nearby. NTOC is a really good group of folks and you will feel welcome if you have not attended before. I would really like to see some of you guys from Oklahoma.

I know Aron and Glen can't be the only CO members going.

Here is a virtual tour of the host hotel:

You do not have to be a member of NTOC to participate. The first year I went was 2014 and I was not a member. My wife and I had a great time and found out what a great group of folks are in the NTOC. If you come and don't have a good time, I will buy you a beer or whatever your preference is. As Bob Barker used to say "Come on Down".

We will be attending, but not with a hybrid wanna-be wagon. Maybe wash off the coupe,.....again!

Just under a month away. I think I'll go up 51 to Gainesville, then pop on over to Pottsboro via 82 and 289. 51 is a nice drive, don't know about the rest of that route. Anyone know of a better back roads way?

Thanks for the reminder Eric. I know we are going to have a great place. I just hope the weather holds out. I think my wife is going to follow me in the Expedition. If some of the spouses want to go into Denison to shop and visit the birthplace of Ike, she would be glad to do that.

I'd also like to add that the registration fee is still $30 till the day of the show. I had missed the peregistration date, and had opted to register on the day of the show. Then I got an email from Vince stating that the fee was still $30 due to the t shirts being sold separately. I sent my registration this week. The hotel looks to be worlds away better from last year. That is always a consideration for my wife, she has made our reservation.

I look forward to seeing both you guys there. Tanglewood is a very nice resort but as I mentioned in a previous post, there are other hotels in Denison and Sherman which are nearby that are less expensive. We would just like to see you guys there. This is always a fun event with lots of good folks.

I hope the folks that went up today didn't get their cars too dirty. I did a quick wipe and vac on mine. Planning on heading out around 6am from Mayberry, should be a pleasant drive. See ya's there.

See you in the morning Eric. Ginny and I were going to leave this afternoon about 3 but I called and was able to cancel the reservation for tonight which surprised me. We plan on pulling out of Rowlett about 6. I don't know what I was thinking but I agreed to be a judge and we have a meeting at 9. I need a little time to get the car wiped down and my props set up. Weather is supposed to be good tomorrow.

Had a great time as always with people and cars I generally see once a year. Glen should be following up with some pictures (great seeing you, the Mrs, and your son with other half. Its always a good day when you can take about a 350 mile round trip in the car.

If you live in N Texas, I highly recommend joining the N. Texas Olds Club or at least make the annual meet.

Sure it did. Glad you joined us for lunch. It was a good show and a nice recovery from last year. We got back about 1:00 today. We had a nice dinner and awards presentation last night. I well get some pictures posted up. Since I judged I didn't have time to get as many pictures as I usually get and the quality my be a little lacking since I took them with my iPhone. By the time I took them several cars had left including yours.

Eric:

Thanks for getting these posted. I just downloaded mine from my phone a short while ago and they are not very good. After judging I didn't have much time left and I left my camera and had to use my phone. The glare made it almost impossible to get good pictures. As always we had some really nice cars there. Next year NTOC will be hosting the annual met for the NAOC (National Antique Olds Club) in Dallas. Our Zone Show will be done in conjunction with it. I think it is going to be in June.

I judged that car and had a good conversation with the owner. It has a 56 Olds engine in it and a 700R4 transmission. Too bad we don't have a close up of the woodgrain. It was airbrushed by a guy in Houston that has done cars for ZZ Top. The car was one of the best of show cars. It is very well done.

This car was driven from Houston,.....again! Spectacular! Others that peaked my interest was the V code '73 blue 455/4 speed 442 with white interior, I had the privilege to judge. Also, the '70 twilight blue 442 which was unrestored and the most factory loaded 442 I've ever seen with a sticker. Windows, locks, twilight sentinel, rear window defog, am/fm stereo, eight track, ralley pack, tinted windows tow pack, transmission cooler, b85 moldings, 3:08 anti spin, hd cooling, a/c, dealer added AC adjustable air ride, center console, dual gate, cruise control, T44 hood lock, tilt, sport wheel, shoulder harnesses. Driven car, sounded very good. This is what these shows are all about!
