1970 442 W-30 4-speed, 35k firm

1970, 442 W30. This is an excellent example of an unrestored Big Block muscle car. Correct numbers matching 455. F heads, aluminum intake. Posi Rear. The second and CURRENT owner purchased the car in 1972. Equipped with console, AM-FM stereo radio, hood lock, Factory Gauges and Tach, sport steering wheel, light group, and factory rear defog. Ralley II wheels . Very straight car. Repainted a little over 20 years ago. Is a -- paint code car. Gold Buckets front and rear professionally recovered. Car has just over 100,000 miles.

I do not own the car but have known the owner since 1980. I remember driving in this car back in the early 80’s. The car is exactly as I remember it back then. I’d buy it if I didn’t have 2 kids going to college this fall.

That car looks awesome! That gold paint with black stripes will always be iconic in my opinion. I'm not in the market for one but I know others will ask.... what is the ballpark price the owner is looking for?

Edit: Didn't notice the price was listed in the title at 35k. Sorry about that.

title says 35K

Looks to be a very solid original car. Do you have the broadcast card, window sticker, any documents to confirm it's a w30 ?
Thanks

I believe the owner found a build sheet. I will try and get a copy. I know he has the protecto plate. He bought it in 72 and no one was going nuts over documentation back then. I first saw the car in 1979. It was totally original then, pretty much the same as now with the exception of the paint and the seats recovered.

Great car and for 35k it is a steal if the paperwork is all there. I wish I had the cash and I would be on a truck to pick it up.

Drool, wow is that what my hard top is supposed to look like - wow I wish. Looks like it even has the original alternator. Look at the spare. Tire looks used but interesting to see the rim with a center cap - I see some with and some without - but that looks very original. take a close picture of the spare will you - would be nice to document another original grey SSII

I AGREE! Is that the original spare? What is the build week from the body tag? What are the dates on the wheel & DOT numbers on the spare?

There are still some cars to be had boys and girls. Hard to say what that car is without seeing it in person, but at that number, it isn't much of a gamble. That car has a A WHOLE LOT going for it; --paint, numbers, oh yea that third pedal! Please let us know how it is?!?!

Yes, you did have a choice of either the SS-1 or SS-2. There was going to be a third choice, but Oldsmobile cancelled it in late August 1969 - An SS-2 type rim in 15"x7" with a G60-15 tire.

The W-30 looks great - hopefully the trim card is still behind one of the seats with the exclusive option noted. Even without it, the car was a good deal.

Day late on this one. You got a great deal and I'd say quite a bit under valued but good for you.

What radiator top plate is that? Shouldn't it have a 4-core and/or wasn't that included with the W-30 OPTION?

Normally the top plate with the curved imprints were non shroud cars and the top plates with straight imprints had a shroud. So either it was a factory goof or a changed top plate. 4 speed cars normally got heavy duty cooling and a shroud usually with a 3:91

Beautiful car - congrats!!

I looked into this car and asked about documentation. I was sent a picture of the same "Olds Production Code B" card. (pictured above). I have a quick question about this card.

I understand and see that the card states that the car has the W30 option Along with other options that are W30 specific like the TM rear end and TS engine code

But, how does this Production B card connect specifically to this W30 car - since the card does not have a body number stamped on it like the Fischer "broadcast" cards we know.

I know the K46010 code on the bottom of the Production B card is the order number. This order number will also appear in the top right hand corner of the window sticker along with the zone and dealer code

Just looking to learn. Appreciate any information you can share on this.

I am confident that you will find at least 1 Fischer broadcast card in her!

Again, nice score!!!

Good luck and enjoy.
Cheers,

Sam

There is a waterfront property about 5 houses away from my Ocean City, Maryland beach house that sat idle next to a new home construction site. Nobody paid any attention to it, as everyone was focused on the new house being built. Said property was put on the market and in less than 24 hours had two contracts without contingencies. My point is this:
People whine and complain about the economy and the "sharp" people act when the opportunity arises. If something is for sale and offered at what is probably LESS than true market value it will sell and sell quickly. Jim hit the nail on the head; many watched and guessed and the new owner struck. GREAT BUY, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT PIECE OF PAPER YOU SHOWED US!!!

Fixed it for you.

You must qualify your statement - "Sharp people with cash on hand". Many people knew of the value of that property and the value of this W30, how many people have the extra cash - even in a good economy.

People with cash are going to be able to scoop stuff like this. Debt is not your friend.
