Replacing Trunk floor question

I am replacing my badly rusted trunk floor on my 1972 Cutlass convertable. I bought a complete kit with fuel tank supports and frame braces but the one part I am needing I am having a hard time finding. I need the rail for the back side of the trunk where the fuel tank supports attach, does anybody make these? Here is a picture of a Buick with the arrow pointing to the part I need, basically the same on my car.

I don't think you are going to find that bracket new.You are probably going to have to use one from a donor car. Is the one on your car rusted thru? I replaced my trunk also on a 72 and I just used the existing brackets.

Yes, one side of it is nearly gone from rust. I think I can rebuild it but it would be much easier to get a new one but it looks like they are not available,

Unfortunately, that's the rear crossmember of the frame and not available separately to my knowledge.

No,

This picture has the frame off the car. This is NOT the rear frame cross member as the fuel tank brackets do not connect directly to the frame.

Donor car or fix / remake what you have. Post some pics of your car as it is and I can give you a better idea.

Would that be the trunk floor front crossmember??
If it is Mill Supply has them, it's not illustrated so scroll down the parts list when you get to the category.

Here is a picture of my car. You can see the part mentioned. Is this the trunk floor front crossmember?

That would be the rear cross bar according to the Olds parts catalog, I should of looked at that first.
Where is the front trunk floor crossmember then?
I don't see one in the book.
Maybe the supply place has got it backwards??
I would call and ask them to be sure.

How about calling Desert Valley Auto Parts. I think that maybe a good source without buying a donor car. They have lots of used parts. Here is their site.

Front crossmember?

There is definately nothing in the front that I would call a crossmember. I will call to find out. I might try a used part from the place mentioned. Thanks for all your help.

Dynacorn 15448

Look in the GTO/Cutlass Catalog, page 12. I paid about $80 for it..

I used one in my 72 cutlass rag and my buddy used one on his 69 rag.

ywg396,

Thanks!! Stupid question, but how close was it to the original on your 72? Any mods have to be made? This peice has the encapsulated nuts for the rear body bushings, correct?

Thanks again...

First off, the correct part number is 1544B not 15448. It has a couple of extra nuts welded on to it which I assume is GTO specific and did not interfere with anything on the cutlass.

The nuts for the body mount are in the correct position. I guess a fisher body, is a fisher body. This is a very nice piece and really cleaned up the back area.

Thank YOU!! That is awsome and is a relief! The back of this car is pretty rusty and I thought that I would have to get this from a donor car. Your pictures are fantastic and a great help!!

Thanks again

Exclamation Trunk pan replacement

I have a question. I got in about a week ago a complete trunk pan (one piece) for replacement in my '67 442 vert. The carton states it is for a '64-'67 a body. A sticker on the pan states it is for a '64-'65 bop a body. My question, is there a difference? I thought they were the same '64-'67 a body. The pan came from sherman's in michigan (800-345-9487). The rear pan piece "stretch 1" mentioned and needing is spot welded to the trunk pan floor. I do not know if this piece is available separately. It's worth a call. Just came across the post and thought i would add my 2 cents and try for some info myself. Thanks
