Floor pan

Got a 71 Cutlass convertible and just finished up doing the trans and would like to replace the floor pan.
I do have welding experience and am mechanically inclined, but I don't have body work experience..
It's been horribly 'repaired' and I've got a few questions before I take the plunge. In opgi its got the whole pan and I was wondering if it would be easier to cut it up in sections and replace it bit by bit? Reason being is because I'm not sure if things have got to be braced and I certainly don't want it screwed up. Is this a complicated process? Will this require more people? Other than seats what else needs to be removed?
If someone can give me a run down of what to expect that would be great, thanks in advance..

I have always thought it better to keep as much as possible of the original floor. I've even bought full panels and used maybe only 1/4 of it. If you leave as much as possible then you know at least that part is correct.

IMO, If you only have to replace rusted out sections you can use replacement panels. If it turns out you need to replace the entire floor, go with the full floor. It is a REAL PITA to use 1/2's or 1/4's, The seams don't always match up, and there is way too much welding and grinding.

Cool. Looks like it could go either way. I'll just have to pull the seats and carpet and see which is the better replacement. Thanks

Where are you located? I've got some floorpan sections available for patches and am sure other members here do too. If one of us is close to you that might be an option to consider.

Wait until you receive the new floor pan (or sections), before you cut anything out...…….
