Water pump

I'm in the process of starting the rebuild of my BB out of a 68 Toro. It needs a new water pump. Would you recommend high volume or maybe even aluminum? I notice different pumps on Summit when I search for 68 Toro vs 455. I'm assuming any 455 pump will work, right?

A stock water pump will work fine for your 455 just make sure you buy new not rebuilt and that your get the correct shaft length to work with your pullys. Take the old one with you when you pick up the new one to make sure you get the right pump.

Thanks, I was definitely buying a new one. They're too resonably priced to go reman...

Should be basically 2 stock types, A/C and non-A/C. Nothing beats taking the old one in with you to compare, and as a bonus you'll probably avoid a core charge!

The engine was originally in an a/c car, mine is non a/c. I guess that would determine which pulleys are being used on the engine now, correct?

Yes, but taking the old pump in to compare to a new one removes all doubt (and need to figure out what is what).
