Olds engine builder, Philadelphia area
I am close to having all the parts needed for my 455 build. In need of a machine shop. Was hoping someone in my area could give me a place they have used.

If you want to make the trip to Delaware, I used http://americanautomotive.com. It was about 10 years ago and they did an outstanding job and in a timely manner. They tolerated my constant calling and even let me come in on a Saturday, gave me a tour of the place and let me take a bunch of pics. They even let me help balance the rotating assembly. For a novice like me it was a lot of fun and a wonderful experience.

Don't know how far you are willing to travel but Midway Performance near Mount Carmel PA does amazing work. I had my Olds stroker done there along with buying a array of other make parts, they also have a Olds specialist for their Olds builds.

A good machine shop can take care of you...Olds specialist or not. Iron is iron... the three shops I have used recently on my builds (Olds, early Hemi, SBC) do 'em all plus diesel, small engines, industrial, farm, etc.
Ask around at the local cars shows, drag strip... anywhere car guys hang out.

I've heard good things about them at Raceway Park. A few Central Jersey guys drove stuff down there.
There is a machine shop in the Industral park off Mearns Road. Stout Drive to be exact. I know my mech had my Alero's heads put together there, he's also on Stout![Wink](https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
they built a Buick Estate Wagon with a 403. That thing was hot!!

Before I had my 425 done, I stopped to talk to the man at Martyn Motors. When I told him what I wanted done, he just looked at me like I had two heads. He had no idea where to get parts, what parts to use, nothing. He is pretty much a Ford and Chevy man. I took the job to Jordan Machine in Hainesport, NJ (just outside of Mt Holly). Gil Jordan is a little slow getting the jobs done but he puts things together like a watchmaker. He researched all the parts needed and got them at shop prices which were much better than I could have done.

A couple of years ago when I was building the 400 he was lacking on finding pistons. I supplied them myself and gave him the EGGE catalog. He was thrilled, so yes you are correct in that respect but as far as the actual machining everything was right on and clean. He did have a picture of a G block 400 there on the board that they did.

Found them, was hoping for someone a little closer. Not looking to build a race engine, just something around 400-450 hp. Did you ship yours, or drop it off yourself. I do like the fact he does Olds though. I am going to call to talk with Bill.
Thanks Tom
