cam selection

please help me select a good cam for my 455 build. I am using big valve E heads. 30 over high compression pistons that are comparable to the 1970 455 in a 442. any help with this selection would be appreciated. my goal is to have something close to a stock 1970 442.

None of us can recommend a thing until you give us the rest of your combo as well as exactly what piston you're using.

Why are you asking the same question in multiple threads?

I'd still like to know the piston you'll be using.

I didn't think I was getting the right answers. I am quite sure there are guys here that have bought, and used a new, stock replacement cam for their 70 442. I was just looking for a good brand name, and part number.

Meanwhile, Google Crane Cams Muscle Car Camshaft Guide on enginelabs.com. Lots of good stuff in there and lots of reference to Crane's Blueprint Series which sounds like it's right up your alley.

Depending on the piston being used I'd probably do an Erson Hi Flow 1, 228/228@.050 with .504 lift on both.

Cam selectiion

He is using a stock dished flat top, stock rods and crank. All bottom end is
factory OEM specs. That should be enough info on cam spec suggestions.

Hmmmm I wasn't sure the original style small dish pistons were still available. The only ones I know of are the 13cc Federal Moguls that have a 1.720 cd. With 80cc heads that would give him about 9.5:1. The cam I mentioned would work with that, but I wouldn't go any bigger.

This is a NOS set of Pistons that I bought from another member here. They are Perfect Circle Brand Pistons .30 they are at the machine shop, having the rods pressed on. I can get the other specks later today.
I did some searching on my own. The stock part number for the cam is 400165
And I now have those specks to go off of.

Those pistons are 14cc dish. Cast and are NOS from many years back. I had them since the Dallas NTOC hosted the nationals the first time. (1990 ?)
