394 engine color--

So I was told by several auto parts shops that since Olds Red is not available to paint the block, just to use Ford Red. I think my grandfather would roll over in his grave if he knew that I bought FORD RED to use on a Oldsmobile engine

Any suggestions where to get OLDS RED???

The closest I came to OE was Dupli-Color #DE 1653 Red Looks good plus it is Ceramic 500 degree paint . hope this will help.

I just painted my 394 and looked around for something other then ford red, and came up with the same as already mentioned Dupli-Color #DE 1653 Red. You can see it listed on their website here http://www.duplicolor.com/products/enginePaint/

This is how it looks, brighter then the ford red.

A few other photos I posted in this thread if you want to see the color more. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-begins-2.html

Otherwise I beleive Fusick sells an engine paint the correct red color.

I want to repaint the valve covers fo my 68-er Delmont and seached and searched the internet but I found "Rocket Red" from VHT.

So famous that I was able to order it at my place, in the Netherlands

That is a killer paint job- I will post some pics as we progress again- thanks again for the help -we are going to use the same as you did- What color and paint did you use on the valve covers and exhaust manifolds? Did you also paint your roto-hydramatic?

The paint for the manifolds I beleive was VHT high temp cast iron color, valve covers I disposed of the paint cans and can't remember. And yes, I painted the transmission...

I forgot I had that photo/avatar and I came across it while organizing. Thought it seemed like a suitable avatar for an Olds website!

Just painted the exhaust manifolds-the same as you mentioned above. That is the color that we actually had in the cabinet. We painted the transmission with Eastwood Aluma-Blast and kept the filler tube and breather line- underhood black. Looks killer. Will send some pics when my son gets a chance. The firewall and front suspension is now underhood black as well...

Only the high compression ones. The low compression ones are a lighter green.
