1989 Calais Wagon

Does anyone have any information or opinons regarding a 1989 Calais wagon? I saw one advertised locally for a great price. It supposedly has 74,000 miles on it and looks clean in the photos. It has a 4-cylinder which surprised me a little. Is this the iron duke? Are the tailgates a problem on these wagons?

If you are in the market for one of these cars and the price is right then buy it. I don't know much about them. Just make sure it is in tune and all of the maintenance is done properly.

I would guess that it is an iron duke. poor performer, but dead nuts reliable. they were durable cars. my brother had a eurosport Chevy. He had over 250k on it when he sold it to a friend. The car is still on the road last time we talked about it. same platform, and drive line.

Yeah, it's so rare that none were ever built. The N-body Calais only came as a 2 door or 4 door, never a wagon. The car is either a Ciera wagon (FWD A-body)or a Firenza wagon (J-body). The Ciera did come with the iron duke. The Firenza came with the Brazilan 2.0 liter.

Those cars must have something going for them because I see them all the time around here.
The mail delivery people use them stopping every couple of hundred feet at the mailboxes, always amazed how they can drive from the left side.

Edit: Just to clarify, driving with their left hand and foot sitting on the right side.

Cierra, all I think of is the movie "Fargo" when I hear that name and the way the cop lady said it with that North Dakota accent referrring to the car the Olds dealer gave to the crooks.
Looks like Fargo outside today, got to fire up the tractor and blow some snow.

Hey Joe, I was in Northern Virginia on vacation a few years ago and stayed at a cabin on the Shenadoah River. It sure is a pretty place with sincerely nice and friendly people. But you probably know that already.
