What would you guys think if a Cadillac 500 magically appeared under the hood of my 69 vista cruiser?

Those are good engines. Its alot better than sticking a chevy in it. I am considering grabbing a 472/500 for my Cutlass for a project down the road from now. If you are getting a good price I would say go for it.

yeah i plan on keeping the rocket thats in it im not a hundred percent sure if its original and when i finally get her done shes gonna have stock interior but i want to do the paint black and blue, i want the stock blue thats on it and black where the wood grain is at, i hate wood grain. I just got a cad 500 for free and plan to rebuild it so just wondering what you guys would think if i put it in there since its my only project car unless i conver a 98 grand prix to rear wheel drive and use the 500 in it after moving firewall and everything, thatd be a bad ass grand prix though lol

lol itd be prolly the fastest GP in the world itd be a great sleeper besides the rumbling. But know i think i really want to get that 500 put in to the wagon since the engine is free. There is a website online where you can buy all performance for the engine its called the cad company and they even have blowers for them so i am really thinking about building the motor, boxing the frame and finding either a spare hood to chop for it or leave it hoodless and let it roar

Sell the engine and the GP before you throw good money after bad and put it back into the Vista Cruiser. I can get free Caddy engines all day, like getting a "free" kitten or puppy, they all should have free thousand dollar bills tied to them when you pick them up. With the money you would have to spend on the parts for a Caddy engine (and all that goes with the change over) you could build or buy a really healthy Olds engine and have plenty of cash left over. At least get an Olds 455 if you want a torque monster. The 350 in it can be built up pretty good too.
But I'm a stock original guy and it's your car, you have all the right in the world to screw it up as much as you want.

I love woodgrain.

Every engine has its strengths and weaknesses. The Caddy has plenty of issues, and few parts available. Stay with Olds. You can build it to make lots of power and parts are easily available to fix any issues with it. Cubes aren't everything. If the heads won't flow, more cubes won't help much. You can end up with a stout Olds 455 with a lot less weight than the Caddy would have using readily available stuff like aluminum intake and heads if you later want to go that route.

The GP is the daily driver got to keep it lol. The cadillac 500 idk my buddy who is giving it to me doesnt want me to get rid if it he just doesnt have the room for it and i helped him with some stuff so he gave it to me. I might build it and just save it for something down the road idk what i am gonna do yet at this time, I dont have the money to build it right now its gonna be a slow project.

You could always attach the 500 to a chain and use it as a boat anchor if you have a fishing boat.

no boat, i think i am just gonna rebuild it and then either find another car or drop it in the wagon, i would love to put it in a early 80s cutlass with full exaust and use it as a sleeper

I kind of like the caddy powered gp thought. I keep talking about turning the wife's impala into a sbc rwd, may be a 427 LS motor dreams are a wonderful thing when you lack resources

Geez, I remember those 500's from when I was a kid. I know I wouldn't want to be paying for gas.

I would say that if a 500 magically appeared under the hood of your VC you would be really drunk and would be looking under the hood of a caddy.

a caddy powered vista might be a very interesting project though, like a trimmed down hearse or something
