ok next question got the wipers working but when u shut them off with the switch they keep going till u shut the car off they dont turn back on though till u turn them on with the switch again
|

My 86 does that as well. It will shut off eventually if you keep turning them on and off. I was told it's probably the park switch, but I'm not sure. Could be the actual column switch too. Changing the motor out is probably the easiest. I found one at Autozone or Checker for about $50. The new column switch is pricier and a PITA to change out so I figured I'd start with the easiest and see if it works

be tempting just to put em on a toggle for now already got too much tied up in the alternator and power steering pump with christmas comming

You can't. The GM wiper motor uses a shunt winding. The high speed winding is conventional, but low speed uses a reverse wound shunt winding that is energized at the same time as the high speed winding. You need the factory switch.
