Looking good! Did you take out the roof glass out by yourself? Was it tough to do?

Nope! really didn't want to break that piece! Called a glass guy. Someone had put all sorts of gunk in there to try and prevent leaks! Just don't do that people!!! Took the glass guy about an hour to do that and remove the other window trim for me. Well worth the $$$$ paid

Can't wait to see the final outcome. I agree about letting the professionals do certain things. Glass is one of them.

Looks Good. I am starting a 70 vista project soon. Pick the car up this sat. 9/26 and it will begin. What color are you doing the original or something different? Steve

Thought about a color change for a long time. The car still had its original paint on it! Only the tailgate had been repainted at one point. The car will get to wear it's original color. I am really happy w/ the results so far! Can't wait for tomorrow.

PAINT
Paint went on today! Went well! 3 coats of clear.....happy with the color choice the pictures make it look a little darker than the actual color. Original color was definitely the way to go. Sanding and Buffing is in the near future than a day to put it all back together! Here are some pics

Getting there!
Spent some time putting the car back together. Some window trim issues, but it eventually went back together. Time to clean, polish, and put the finishing touches on.

![]() I'm glad you kept the woodgrain, It's sort of tacky and fake looking but that's the best part about it. I think a Vista Cruiser in a full woodgrain body wrap would be the ultimate in coolness, Fred Flintstone's car was all woodgrain and he's real cool. ![]() That's a nice green, is it a metallic? I just have to pull mine back apart and take it to the body shop, ready for paint for forever it seems, the stars just wouldn't align. I've been working on it three years and I have nothing left to do anymore so I guess it's time, plus I have the cash now. ![]() |

![]() I have started primering my car to put paint on it eventually. I hope it goes as well as yours did.

Suggestion: get her polished up, doesn't have to be perfect. Get it out in the open and stage some panoramic shots of this gorgeous car for BigJerr Oldsmobile calendar. Your car is a real contender!

I love the car. I have a joke for you. A man who had a car like yours with woodgrain. One day he decided to take it off the woodgrain. After he took it off he turned to his wife and said I think I liked it better in the crate.

The color looks just like one of the greens on the Matchbox '71 Vista Cruiser diecasts.
![]() I have to get one then do a frame-off on it and paint it blue. Quote:
