Smile Welcome

You have found the right site to answer your questions. There are a lot of Vista Cruiser owners on this site and I am sure someone will pipe in soon. Been through NH many times on the south Canada highway loved the places I saw.

Welcome to CO, that little cobra looks like a midget next to all it's stable mates I bet. That big dually dump must be really something too. Don't see many of those. Now to the good stuff (rubbing hands together) I officially request pictures of your two Vista Cruisers. Glad you are here to help represent the long roofs as we don't have enough yet.

Longroofs - now why didn't I think of that, Oldsguy? Meanwhile, I also like the VC and the Flat Tops. What year is the VC, and which switch are you referring to - one on the dash, or one on the tailgate? Be a bit more specific as to what the problem is, and I'll TRY and help, if possible.

WOW, you guys are GREAT, I've been around about a year, but wanted to learn the culture (so-to-speak) before opening up. Thanks ever-so-much for all the Replies, really cool.
My orig question was R&R switch in tailgate for window. From inside door skin, reaching around window and mechanism, seems I can feel a pull tab holding lock assy. (??)
My final goal though is to by-pass (keyed) window switch with a hidden non-keyed switch, ideas? I'm thinking under/inside/behind bottom of door sweep.

Anyway, some details on my '70 VC daily driver:
Original numbers matching 350 Cubic Inch, 4 barrel carburetor V-8; 310 HP
* Original Factory Options:A/C,
CORRECT:1970 Cutlass Factory Options Installed: PW, P Door Locks, Tilt Steering column, Sports steering wheel, Front bucket seats Floor console with Dual Gate Hurst "His-Hers" shifter, Rally Pac instrument cluster, Rear sway bar from 442, factory Cruise Control (not working) Olds SS II x15x7, etc...

Thanks again for thoughts on tailgate key switch R&R.

I didn't coin that word, heard it over at the HAMB one time a while back. Moving this thread to the wagon forum.

Welcome. I've been away and a little late here.

Got some cool cars, I got one too. Did you post pics and I missed them?

Still need any info on the switch let me know. It does have a flat spring steel retainer that slides around it like side door locks. Those switches are serviceable, at least mine was. The wire connector end comes off and you can clean the brass contacts inside.

I just put in factory power windows, tilt, locks, and an underdash 8 track in mine. Already had factory cruise...and it works.

I'm going for a stock looking resto so no buckets, be a lot more comfortable than that bench though, my second one will have buckets and a 455, along with a poor unfortunate Tiger's tail hanging out of the gas tank.

Are you talking about the key switch on the rear door? If so you can still get a new one from GM. I got one about a year ago. You have to open the gate and raise the window to get to it. Need to suport the glass on something, so it don't brake
