lock up converter
I MIGHT be using a later model 350C with lock up converter, 1980 or 81. It was cheap---and would be temporary. Besides, its "rebuilt"
![]() Any worrys or damage that might occur IF I don't use the lock up function? Well......besides lower fuel economy? I'm not spending 175 bucks on a lock up kit if I don't have to. Call me cheap, just use a capital C. ![]()

I have a freebie stock converter here, if you want it. 74000ish miles.
Is the difference in the converter or the trans itself?

Its both, mostly in the converter and some changes in the trans to my understanding. A lock up converter can only be used in lock up trans, from what I've gathered, you can't mix and match.

I didn't know there even was a 350C lockup until a month or 2 ago. Go figure. Oddities

) Of course, is a $2.00 toggle switch cheap enough for you?

I must admit I forgot about the toggle switch for manual operation. Just got to remember to use it! (turn it off). The speedometer will be another problem too. Thanks for the comments.

I got a kit from Superior Transmission Parts Inc, Mine was for the 200c, its just a shift correction kit that corrects lock up problems, hav`nt installed it yet though. Still snowing here. They have kits for the C trannys. It was 35.00 bucks off of E-Bay.

Yup, it bolts in. Just tie the old connector up someplace so it doesn't get damaged and short out.

I assume your 84 has either a V6 or the Olds 307, right? If it's a Canadian car with the 305 Chevy, then the bellhousing bolt pattern is different.
Also, if your 84 still has the computer controlled carb, you'll need to be sure the speedo gears are close to being right for your rear axle ratio. If not, the computer will read the wrong road speed, which may affect the mixture ratio in the carb.
