ok im newer to the site and it has helped me out alot on here. first off i am restoring a 67 4 door oldsmobile cutlass. all original 68035 miles. automatic with 330 enigne. i have rebuilt motor and painted firewall and frame,set the motor and tranny back in tonight. no problems. i just have few questions. hopefully the pics are attached on here.
1st pic. they are a hose coming off the back of tranny right where the driveshaft comes in. looks like a vacum pump thing(dont know exact name)
where does it hook into at on the motor? it has a long metal tube that was with it at one point but cant figure out where it goes.
pic number 2.metal tube sticking out about half way up drivers side of transmission.
what hooks here and whats hooks on the other end?
pic number 3. location pic of the tube. and what does number 7 mean?
pic number 4. it has the cooler lines and what looks like a plug with cut wire.
now i dont know if it matters or not but does the upper cooler line go to upper connection on radiator and lower to lower on radiator? or does it matter?
also im assuming that the plug with cut wire is maybe a back up sensor for back up lights? if so where would it need to hook up at? and if not what is it?
this will help me out alot if anyone can give me some info on this stuff.
im slowly putting her back together. i painted the brackets for alt.,power steering, and also painted the power steering and cleaned the alt.

I know picture # 2 is the vent tube for the transmission. Don't hook anything to it. Just make sure it is clean and free of debris.
Picture # 3 shows the casting number on top of the transmission. I'm not sure what the number 7 means.

First, the bad news. Your car is NOT all original if that trans came out of it, because that's a TH350, which was not offered in the Cutlass line until the 1969 model year. It is, however, a common replacement for the two-speed Junkaway... er, Jetaway that did come standard in your 67.
Photo #1 is the vacuum modulator. The hose should connect to a metal line that eventually connects to a manifold vacuum source on the engine.
Photo #2, as noted, is the vent tube. Do nothing with it, it is correct as is.
Photo #3 shows that this is, in fact, a TH350. The "7" is a casting code. Nothing to get excited over.
Photo #4, in addition to the cooler lines, shows the end of the kickdown cable that is unique to the TH350. The original Jetaway used an electric kickdown. You need to get a new cable and engine bracket so you can connect this to the throttle arm on the carb. Otherwise you will not be able to kick down into passing gear.

thanks olds64 and joe padavano. so the tube on the drivers side of tranny is a vent tube do nuthing with. then the vacuum modulator should hook into manifold somewhere. which makes since since i have the metal tube but it reached to few differant places that could be hooked up too.
the bad news part i was assuming the car was all original i was told that by the man who owned it. i grew up around the car so i figured he told me everything about it. but no biggy about differant tranny. but the problem is will the transmission filter kit be the same for both trannies? or do i need to get one for the 69 auto th350.
next since the kickdown cable is cut where can i find the cable and how can i hook it up since it was not hooked up in the car in first place. heck i didnt even know it was there till i cleaned it all off.
also what is the differance between the 2 transmissions?
