700r4 in a 71 convertible supreme

Hello all. I plan on putting a 700r4 in my 71 cutlass.I'm bolting it to a 455. I know I need the adapter plate for it to mate. Is there anything else I need? Cut the drive shaft? What do I do about the crossmember?

Had you considered a 200-4R? It will bolt right to the Olds block without all that adapter mess and can be built to handle a mild street 455 no problem. Plus the gear spacing is so much nicer than the 700...

I have thought about the 200 but it seems the 700 is a little more plentiful. Especially in my area. What about a manual transmission? What kind of 4 speed tranny can I install? Does anyone offer full conversion kits?
