As for trans ID, try this:

Note that is says "the name POWERGLIDE is embossed on the case" for Powerglide transmissions.

Is this an Olds or something else? If it's an Olds, I can tell you right now that it is NOT a Powerglide. The two-speed trans used by Olds for 64-67 was a Super Turbine 300 (AKA Jetaway). Contrary to popular belief it is completely different from a Powerglide and no parts interchange.

Joe: I believe BOP used the ST-300 in 68, 69, but had no switch pitch feature. Pontiac never used the switch pitch in their ST-300's aka Tempestorque. But if you take it a little farther Pontiac borrowed the Corvair Powerglide for the 61-63 Tempests, and of course called the Tempestorque. As you pointed out, Chevy invested in putting the name POWERGLIDE on aluminum cased SLIDES. The cast iron SLIDES had merely a pressed on plastic button with the word POWERGLIDE and it's associated patent #s.

I need you again!
I need to buy new (or remanufactured) Torque converter for my girl friend 67 Olds Cutlass Jetaway transmission. But I donīt know this torque converter will works in my 67 Jetaway:

If my Jetaway is with Switch-pitch...Do you think this torque converter fits and works in my Jetaway? This Torque converter is for switch-pitch?
"BPO, 8 Cyl Fixed Pitch Stator, Kickdown Solenoid on VB"
Thanks again!

Wasn't it a Vega converter they used to get the cheap stall? I think they were TH350 converters. Over on ROP (I think) someone had an Olds bolt pattern powerglide out of one year with no TH350 available. I know of a couple guys racing with them.

It is, as proven by the two wires going into the side of your trans (one for kickdown, one for the converter).
Sorry, but no. The fixed pitch stator is not the switch pitch stator.

Hi guys! Happy 2010!
Well, I have no more problems with the converter, because the BIG problem is the trans... Here, in Spain, can't repair my jetaway, itīs totally cracked, including the housing.
I want to buy some trans in the USA. I'm thinking in a th 400, but I continue thinking about in a 2 speed trans. I don't know what to do and in Internet I donīt find specialist sellers webs in 2 speeds trans. Can I to install a Chevy Powerglide? Itīs possible with an adapter?
What is better/cheap, an th 400 or a 2 speed?
If I install a th 400, what about the column shift? I need to install a center console shifter?
I guess that many people enter this forum asking the same questions that I, but for me itīs too hard to find and understand all that answer that I need to know, so sorry and thanks for the answers!

A TH350 will work just fine for your car, just get one with the BOP pattern. You will need to make a kickdown cable installation as TH350'S did not use electric kickdown switch. They also were fixed pitch converters, so no need for the wiring you have. I believe the transmission is the same length as the Jetaway 2-speed. The 350's should be abundant anywhere.
