67 patch panels?
Hello
I just picked up a '67 Toronado. Car is complete, runs, and pretty solid except for rust in the quarter panels and the rear of the fenders. I have searched the web and haven't found much as far as patch panels go. Do they exist? The rust on the fenders is my main concern. Are there any obscure companies out there making them that don't pop up in online searches?
Sorry if this has come up before. I searched the forum and didn't find much.
I am also new to classic Olds and Toronados. I am really looking forward to getting this car back on the road.
Thank you

Welcome to the site! I haven't seen anything either. I suspect there's not enough demand for any of the aftermarket sources to stamp them out. I've got full rear quarters I removed from a 1967. On my parts car the fenders looked good until I removed the stainless rocker trim and found they were rusted behind the stainless. Are your "supports" good on the fenders? If so, it might be simpler to fabricate a sheet metal patch to repair the holes. If the support is rotted away I think you'll need to find a donor fender to replace this with. John

Sorry, but if you think you are going to find rust-free patch panels for a half-century old car in a wrecking yard in snow country, well, I admire your optimism. When reality sets in, start calling wrecking yards in the desert southwest.

Hi Trent. They are worth what I just spent on a few new sheet metal forming tools. Gunna try and do it the good old way. When I mess that up, Ill let you know. The Quarters are not horrible and I think they will be pretty straight forward. It is really the rear of the fenders I am concerned with since they are so visible. At some point someone bondoed the crap out of them with out taking care of the real problem. Going to give that a shot too. Cant be any worse then what is there now. Thanks though.
