Leak at oil plug
My 55 Super 88 has developed a drip leak at the oil pan plug. The plug is not stripped and is tight. There is a white nylon washer on the plug that I suspect is not supposed to be there but I"m not sure. Any thoughts on cause or correction appreciated. John

My 64 Olds 394 has a similar white nylon washer. It is old and deteriorated. I have often thought that I might be able to replace it and reduce the seepage of fluids out of my car. However, I have never gotten around to it.

leak at oil plug
Mine is old and looks very fragile--I'm afraid to try and remove it. I think original equipment was a fabric fiber washer which was soft and compressed around the plug when tightened. MAYBE SOME PLUMBER'S THREAD TAPE IS ALL THAT I NEED?
