CAR WONT RUN FOR LONG

Well here it goes. I recently put a 71 350/350 into my 1971 cutlass S. I finally got it running but once it gets warm it will stall out and not start again. The motor has HEI. I smelled bad gas so i took the tank out and cleaned/prepped it and re-installed. I then cleaned all plugs put them back in and tried the whole thing again but I still have the same problem. If anyone has any ideas I would gladly listen and try them. Also if you need more info from me just ask and ill post it asap. Oh if I let it sit awhile it will start right back up as if nothing is wrong. any help is appreciated.

thanks
josh

Maybe your choke is operating backwards.

You need to try and see what is causing the problem....Do you have spark when it dies? Do you have fuel at the carb when it dies? Is it flooding? The module in the distributer on an HEI has di-electric grease on the bottom that helps cool the module. Without it the module can overheat and give a no spark condition till it cools......These are places to start when it stalls.
