350 build

Im building a 72 350 in a 442 for my daughter. Has 2.73 gears which might not get changed much if any. TH350 stock converter. Probably do stock 8.5:1 cast Pistons. Performer intake. Quadrajet carb. Headers. Iron heads with crossover filled n teardropped valve guides. Divider will be welded up for headers. I might put 2" valves in. Stock rockers. Street driver looking for around 300 hp. Want to go roller cam but needing suggestions. Thanks.

First off, you will be lucky to hit 8 to 1 with those 24CC cast pistons. Are we talking the stock or replacement pistons? I would get the LF2321 forged pistons with the 5.8CC dish or the new pistons Cutlassefi worked to bring out with a 8cc dish. Both will give low to mid 9 to 1 compression. Mark Remmel (Cutlassefi) is also a cam dealer and can do custom grinds or off the shelf grind for your motor. The 2"/1.625" valves with bowls open is also a good idea, although not necessary for 300 HP. If you need valves replaced anyways, get the bigger valves.

Yeah, the "factory replacement" cast pistons have huge dishes, then on top of that are short on compression height, so sub-8:1 compression is a reality. I would go with those 8cc dish pistons.

ok thanks for the suggestions on pistons guys. I was afraid of the low compression but want to run 87 octane fuel. Ill hit up mark for a cam.
