Wheel Hop

Wheel Hop
I have a 1970 442 with modified engine and 4 speed manual tranny. It has 391 posi 12 bolt rear end. adj upper control arms and after market lower control arms. All bushing look good and I checked to see if they were to tight. I think the springs are stock but not sure. I run M/t 275-60-r15 et street slicks. The casing and control arms look like the correct angle. I also have air bags in both springs and have played with air pressure. I still have violent wheel hop evan after I get traction and shift to 2nd it will bounce. I am looking at no hop bars, anyone have any idea's or brand of no hop bars? Tried smaller tires but spun and started bouncing. Also tried different air pressure in tires. The rear of the car sets about 29" in the rear with 28" tires

I didn't think no hop bars were needed if you already have adjustable upper control arms?
When you say you think the springs are "stock" do you mean 46 year old factory originals or do you mean new "stock spec replacement" springs?

I have seen guys use no hop bars with adjustable uppers. They both do diffrent things. My front end is pretty low but I have trick Springs and 90/10's. I don't have adjustable uppers just boxed lowers and good bushings along with one airbag in the right rear which I only use at the track. What I was told years ago is having the front end a little lower helps with weight transfer. Along with all the proper parts to transfer the weight properly. On the street my car will spin them up but it will actually hook and go. I also have 3.90 gears. I would personally just get relocation brackets for the lowers. The anti hop bars put alot of stress on the housing. I bent one up with them.

Fwiw here is my car at the track. I was told by some hardcore racers its hooking hard. A little too hard. But my set up is simple. moroso trick springs in the front and 90/10 shocks , the rear is home boxed lowers stock uppers with new rubber bushings , and 1969 442 springs in the back with an air bag in the right rear. The main thing to watch is how fast the front comes up and how hard the rear tires are planted. The rear bearly squats Mind you its a mid 12 sec car . But the basics apply. The more weight you can put on the back tires the better the car will hook and the more traction you will get along with more stability while the tires are turning. Thats what i have made of the advice that has been given to me over the years.
