This is the last time I will offer this forsale. NEW NEVER ASSEMBLED #2 350 block Siamese cyl from Oldsmobile with 4.240 bore capable of 4.300 plus. All bores are marked with an X. This is the only one I have ever heard of or seen. Supposedly from what I was told it was one of about 7 ever cast,he said it was cast for CanAm project (guy worked for Olds in Enginering) It was destined to be 380 CUIN. Has capability of 470 plus CUIN Has had Pro Gram Girdle installed with billet front cap and all ARP hardware ( can easily be returned to 2 bolt caps). Girdle alone was 1200.00 plus installation. While I can't verify the number seven, Olds DID cast these special blocks for the CroSal CanAm car in the mid-1960s. This is the same project that eventually led to the aluminum 455 and the Weber intake manifold. Note that in the July 1969 issue of Hot Rod, there's a two-page photo spread with John Beltz and an array of experimental Olds engines, including several small blocks listed at 389 cu in, which is also consistent with your information.

Im just stateing the info he gave me. This is a rare piece of Oldsmobile history. I also have a pan just like the one in Pic # 3 of the blue 455. (not for sale though)

What a killer grudge motor this would make. 470 plus inches on the street!!! Do something sacralige like stick it in a nice light weight foxbody mustang and go win some money!! That would mess with anyones head when u opened the hood and they saw a small block olds. Lol. Who would ever think its just shy of 500 inches! I love it.

I had a 4.085 stroke Moldex Billet crank made for it but sold it. That matched with a 4.280 bore was 470 cuin. This block is much stronger than an ordinary #2 block being Siamese its solid between the cyls,wont twist like a stock 350 block.

I believe it had a 93 cast date so by the article Im guessing this block was cast March of 1969.

yep. but it would still have to exhale through those horrible factory sbo exhaust mainfolds. extrude honing can only do so much. I toyed with the idea of a FAST W-31, but kept coming back to those horrible exhaust manifolds.


although for FAST, you could use this block with F heads (or better yet, faux F heads?) and the better W/Z in a W-30.

Nope. While the BBO heads will bolt up, this is still a short deck SBO, so W/Z manifolds will not clear the motor mounts, oil filter adapter, etc, etc.

I'm also not clear on how an SBO is "factory appearing" in a W-30...

I guess technically since it's an expermental block, it couldn't be used for FAST anyway. Plus this is a for sale thread, so I shouldn't have introduced the tangent. However, you'd be very surprised at the great lengths people go to cut up and/or cut in half, port and modify, then weld back together factory parts.

Chris no problem.It is an experimental block BUT from outward apperance its just a #2 350 gas block. We have put big block exhaust manifolds on a 9.330 deck block so dont say it Cant be done.

yeah, I noticed that. I figured experimental parts would have a different numbering system. ES-XXXX I think. While like you said, this has the 350 gas block casting number. interesting. I don't know enough about these to understand the reasons for one casting identification versus the experimental one.

They cast them off the 350 core box and instead of making large changes they made water jacket andand bulk head changes and left the outside as original probably also to give it a regular production look,sometimes they could only use production parts to be legal. Just guessing.

My engine builder Wayne Joss is heading for the MT border this afternoon to pick up this block & the dual gate shifter & console that I bought from Eric.


Looking forward to seeing this thing. Now the head scratching begins on what to do with it & how many cid to go when it does get built.

The block is now safely in Wayne's shop in Lethbridge AB. Block looks great & was obviously stored well.

Very, very, cool. I had thought of a "cheater" for FAST or the SUPERCAR SERIES also. I'm gunning to run my '69 W-31 with the 422 ALLSTARS NOSTALGIA group this season. They have accepted me providing I can run fast enough---the slowest they allow is 11.99. Because my car is the "REAL DEAL" and not an imposter or clone, I've been told they will waive the "Big Block Only" rule.

I just got home from a 38 day hitch on an oil rig last night. I will be seeing the block in person late next week when I go to Lethbridge to pick up my newly acquired dual gate & shifter & my newly acquired OAI set up.


I am excited about building a big displacement engine from this block. We are still at the drawing board stage with it. Funds for this season are all committed to my race car & my 87 street strip car so nothing will happen this season with it. We hope to build something next winter for some racing in 2016 with the W-31 car. I plan to build it so that the engine appears identical to a 1970 W-31 engine...just packing a bunch more CID & power.


Any forum members who feel that they have a good bore & stroke combination for this build then post away. Keep in mind that the engine will be running #6 heads, a W-350 intake & have compression ratio limited to 10.0:1.

Time will tell what we do but right now 500 cid is on the table as a possible final displacement. There are a number of ways to come up with a 500cid small block but one we are considering is with a 4.300" bore & a 4.300" stroke. Still weighing pros & cons of the bore & stroke & considering other oversquare & undersquare configurations.
