Hi Eric
The early ones were made of plastic and later years of metal. Also there's a slight difference in appearance, somewhere I've got a picture of a 1971 beside a 1977, maybe its the arrow pointing toward the button that's different. But I suspect it will fit and function for all years. The only thing would be if someone wanted to have one correct enough for judging it may not pass muster.

OK... found the thread with pictures. It was actually one from a 1978 Toro that was metal. But it also had a different way to connect to the blinker switch than the one you have. Here's the thread to compare it to. Not sure if the 1971 has it attached to the blinker switch the same or not as I've not taken it apart yet. John

The one in the pictures are for toro or A body. This one is a screw in style like the 88 and 98 have. I am not sure what years are what but if I am looking at the parts book this should fit 88 and 98. Maybe a superseded part and the newer style fits older cars? I have an NOS A body also. I will compare this one to it.
