Replated rear license plate bracket from a '70 Cutlass.

>Plating is nice but there are some small "specks"/dark spots in the finish.

>One retainer tab for the mount bracket rod is broken off...not a problem as I use a push on retainer on the rod and it cannot slip out.

>Includes two new push-in nylon license plate mount inserts

>Distance (center of hole to center of hole) b/n the two bumper mounting screw holes is 3-7/16". Not sure if '71/2 rear bumpers are the same distance so measure your bumper if you have those years and have interest in this bracket.

Patton - hope this doesn't detract from your sale. I think the plate bracket you have is specific for at least the 70 model. Only reason I'm suggesting that is we both know that 71/72 are almost identical and am making this comparison based on the one I restored on my 72 last year. Here are 2 pics (front and back) that show the different embossing and piercings. Also note the 71/72 has 2 round piercings for rubber bumpers that cushion the plate return to the bumper.

69/70 look like they're the same. If the bottom is 71, then 71/72 are the same too!

A couple very slight/subtle differences on 69/70. I have to compare the 71 & 72 to be more certain. But, whatever its only metal, car parts, not like exactitude is really all that important right guys...?

Thanks for the clarifications.....the license plate bracket engineers apparently felt the need to justify their pay so they kept "changing the design". OK...so the 71/2 style are arguably smaller so those would have knocked off some time in the 1/4 mile or maybe they thought all the states were going to change to a squarer plate???? Changed 'em for the sake of changing them I guess. Now we know how GM ended up, in part, the way they did.

Patton - that's right funny! I never realized till this thread came up and Brett posted all those variations how much the plates differed. Now if they had just made them out of unobtainium, which I hear is lighter than air I'm sure the car would have knocked off at least .0001 sec in the 1/4 mile..

More stuff to add to the knowledge base. Did you end up selling the holder yet? That's a great price.
