W 30 Stick Carb RESTAMP 7040256
RESTAMP-DO NOT IGNORE FACTS- THIS IS NOT REAL 7040256 BUT VERY GOOD QUALITY STAMP. NO RETURNS.
If building W30 1970 stick clone car and can't find/ afford real 7040256 ($2500+, if you can find real one for sale) this is the carb for your build.
This is a very high quality restamp that has just been plated and gone through by premier Olds carb shop in US and totally converted to W30 stick specs-no primary metering rods, .058 jets, etc. It is stamped 7040256 BUT has not been restamped for correct "PLANT" (inventory 'pull' code) It should be UA. You would want to get stamps for doing that and I can advise on source for stamps and holders-restamp for before your car's build date date and plant (pull) code. The date code on this is 3399 which is the 339th day of 1969 (December 5, 1969) Must insure call for shipping. DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU CALL ME FIRST. I paid $315 for this and have had it gone through twice now the first time was $295-I was not satisfied with performance on the first go through and sent it to premier shop I trust who fixed issues without charging me. I have more than $600 in this Call Ron @ 703 509 0762

Part of the performance problem might be that you have the same pieces inside of it,as the originals had in them in 1970.They will NOT run the same with todays gas.I went through this with some of my W31 and W30 cars and their carbs.Another W31 owner gave me some different jets, and a few other tips, and it runs way better than it ever did.I also have metering rods & piston in it now. They had idle quality issues with them back in 70,and even tried different combinations of parts with each production. Just a thought.

Brian thx for the reply. Roger on the idling problems. This can be exacerbated by the cam duration/ overlap. I am pulling one of the old NHRA "Stock Eliminator" cams out of my W30 due to the intake being open too long and running way too rich. I will be posting other BB Olds parts-intake, headers, etc from my ebay. Somebody already called me on the Buy it Now thing which I copied from the Bay

You were better off on the other thread. There is nothing wrong with this listing as he specifically states it is a re-stamp. How can this be a scam if you know darn well what you would be getting if you were to purchase it???? Goodness gracious.

goodness gracious...if the buyer of this part resells it down the road or puts it on a car sold down the road...do you think the future buyer is going to know its a fake fraud scam forgery part??? I DOUBT IT I think i'm getting an idea of who has original cars

Goodness gracious? Anybody who does their homework will know what this is with a wrong plant code, and btw my W-30 4 speed convertible is certified as one of the real ones. You can look me up Dude. Sounds like you have an issue with all repops too since they are not "real". It is labeled as a RESTAMP and nobody has a gun to their head to buy it

Actually,if anyone has a car that takes one of these carbs, they will know it is not real, and there were only a handful of dates that they were made.there are also certain casting numbers on the parts that were used for the originals.

How dare you? YOU (whether DUDE or Madam) called that into question with your remark that "I think i'm getting an idea of who has original cars". As to anybody else on the forum, my snide remarks are directed only at this poster. My apologies to anybody else who may have been offended.

Well, hell, I hope when I put my car together it passes your stringent standards. The original engine was gone long before I got the '68 W30.
I found D heads, but they are probably the "wrong date".
After a 10 yr search I got a "real" 7028254 carb.... again, what if the date is wrong? My only other option was the NOS 7029254- with a 1975? date- or a Brothers restamp with any # you want. When the call came that the '8254 carb was available, I did not *care* what date it was.
Ditto for an engine- I have 3 or 4 G blocks, maybe one has an acceptable date code.... maybe not. At least it's a real G-400, right...
Or, IS IT?
Remember I change casting #'s.... Maybe that's a 425!
The '69 Cutlass that left here a while ago had a "350" with #5 heads and 395558-2 block, which displaced ~430 cubic inches. The buyer had it inspected, and questioned the claim that it was a 425, but the photos tell the story.
Oh, and the AT car became an MT car also. Is that allowed?
