Parting out 76 Supreme
Anyone looking for 76-77 cutlass parts, here's what's left of a 76 supreme parts car with bench seat and column shift.
For starters here's what available so far...
Grilles
Header panel
Headlight bezels
Hood ornament
Hood peak molding (center of the hood)
Hood
Fenders
Doors
Dash gauges
Various trim interior pieces (Tan)
Door glass (both)
Opera window glass (both)
Rear glass
Tail lights and extensions
bumper shocks
Driver quality bumpers
...and a few other parts I need to check on
Pending sale on the bumpers
90% of this stuff is still on the car so rather than pile up my garage I'll carefully remove the part(s) when it's/they're purchased. The car is in Fort Worth, Texas.
PM or email me an offer on what you need - macrover@ymail.com

Limey - The core is gone, sorry.
Randy - That's exactly what I said when I first saw it.
In a nutshell....
This car was traded in to the State's "Air Check" (that's what the AC on the car stands for) program because the PO didn't feel it would pass emissions testing and therefore traded the cutlass in for a $3000 credit/voucher toward a more modern and "cleaner running" vehicle.
Once it's in the system the Air Check mechanics basically destroy the distributor and fuel delivery system (carb or fuel injection railing) on the topside of the engine and spray that yellow substance over the engine(s) to signify the vehicle is an AC car, no longer street legal, and no emission components from the car can be used or sold, which includes the engine, carb/FI, catalytic converter, and gas cap to name a few.
So the car becomes an instant parts car until all parts are gone, then it's scrapped.
I noticed the car and got the details on it and simply just couldn't let the good salvageable parts go to the scrapper.

Not that a '76 era engine is the best but still, too bad that someone couldn't pull the engine right before the car goes to the crusher and strip it down to re-use the short block...................at least. There are less and less SBOs and BBOs with every passing day because of instances like this.

Yes, exactly Dan.
I literally stood there gazing at the car for a hour or so and got lost in a daze thinking why the PO chose the Air Check route. You never know...
Nevertheless, I had to save what I could and started buying up what my garage would hold.
You don't see many cars from this era and we all know how scarce parts are.

Couldn't you paint over the parts?

I suppose you could media blast or use some sorta of paint stripper to remove the yellow coating. Dunno.
The yellow stuff did get inside of the carb so I'm not sure it would be worth the efforts, unless of course it was a last resort to keep another olds engine running.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
Considering dinosaurs are extinct...why is it that people are so fascinated by them? They pay money to see their remains, curators yearn to preserve the prized possessions, and children & adults dig to find buried dinosaur treasures just to say I found it and it's mine!...
Well, I have a fascinating "dinosaur" and I genuinely don't mind paying for the upkeep in order to preserve my prized possession...after all, I found a treasure and it's mine!
