spot sand blaster

has anyone used one of those spot sand blasters from harbor freight. just curious how well they work.

I've got one that has a small bag on the bottom for sand. And rubber tips to contain the sand on the usable end. I've only tried it, never really used it. Seems to work OK on the side of cars. Wasn't to good on top though. Not HF.

I've got a HF model with a sand hopper on top. Should be OK for small jobs.

Years ago I had a Sears unit. Siphon feed - it has a plastic case for the sand. (about 14" X 16") It worked good.

The folks at www.67-72chevytrucks.com were recently talking about a sandblasting attachment for a pressure washer. You still got the sand mess, but not the dust. Early reviews sounded like it worked good. This would be outdoors only.

thanks don, i have a pressurized tank that i modified the nozzle on to take a 3.75 inch ceramic tip. it is like a dead man valve. works fantastic its a real rust eating machine, but it never fails. i would get down and do the clean up and later would always find a spot or two that i missed. its to much hastle to set it all back up for couple spots thats why i thought about a spot blaster. i picked one up today at harbor freight so ill give it a try. thanks chris

Let us know how it works. It is always cool to get good leads on useful tools. A garage could never have enough tools.

i used my new spot sand blaster from harbor freight. it works very well. im very pleased with how well it cleans the rust off for a $15.00 gun. just thought i would pass it on chris

Yes it can. When those tools are taking up so much room that you can't put more junkers in it instead!

Our current situation...

a 92 plymouth laser AWD turbo that's completely torn down to be built up as a 9 second car (my buddie's turbo that he got for it is bigger than a stock cummins diesel turbo ;/)

his little sister's 92 eagle talon AWD turbo

that junker 83 subaru GL wagon that needs to get the EFF out of there.

after that junker is gone we have to get my friend's DAD's 92 plymouth laser AWD turbo in and do a complete maintenance on it, full fluids and such, before it explodes

THEN we can fix his little sister's car

THEN we get my 91 olds delta eighty-eight royale in, spend about three days fixing little problems, so i can sell it.

THEN AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, we get my 87 cutlass supreme in and put it up on jack stands and start turning her into a hot rod.

I've already named her. She's called the "Brewsmobile". A reference to my love of beer so dark that it's breakfast in a bottle. =)
