1963 Cutlass resistor wire

I recently encountered a "no run" issue with my Cutlass. It would catch during start but when the key was left at the "run" position, the car would die. I installed a Pertronix Ignitor and their Flamethrower coil several weeks ago and the car ran fine. After some additional work I encountered the above issue.

The problem was a break in the resistor wire somewhere. It took some time to figure it out, but I eliminated the resistor wire completely since the Pertronix instructions said to do so anyway.

Here's how it goes: the positive side of the coil has two wires. The one with the cloth braided sheathing is the resistor wire. This wire energized the coil in the "run" position. As opposed to clipping the wire at the factory coil connector, I unwound the wiring harness until I found the back end of the wire. It was along the firewall near the wiper motor. I clipped the wire from the two yellow wires it connected to and soldered on a new wire that I ran to the coil. Job done.
