JOZW30's 55 88 LS2 build

I actually originally bought the whole console because it looked like the shifter would work for me. Started hacking away and there it is......
I'm sure yours will work as well.

Interior is finally complete. I still need to finish the set up for the ipad door but that can wait until after the Goodguys show next Saturday. The stepper motor is installed, I need to set the start/stop angles and the speed.
The chrome guy promised all of the chrome would be ready mid week. I have a feeling there's a late night Friday thrash session in my future.......
Pictures in the shop don't really do this thing justice. I'll spend Sunday aligning front sheet metal.
Can't wait to see it out at night.....
I am really happy with how this has turned out.
Hopefully next week we can call this build done!

Thanks everyone for the compliments, it's been long learning experience but I really have had a ton of fun building this thing. I can't wait to start enjoying it.
I got the hood installed today and got it mostly aligned (what a pain). The latch and the cable release (late model Yukon part) are working as well.
I'll spend a couple more hours fine tuning it, but the hood was not perfect (these things get tweaked when the rear spot welds pop) to begin with and I was never able to find a better one.
It's acceptable and I don't think anyone will notice too much.

OK folks, I'm going to call the car finished! I have a handful of little items to correct/improve, but so does my 72 W30 that I've been driving for 7 years.....
I'll probably not add more to this build thread after the pictures I'm adding now.
Want to thank everyone that followed along and for all of the positive responses. It did help me keep motivated at times and I enjoyed posting the pictures.
I'm really happy with the final result and will start enjoying car now. Am taking it to a small local car show tomorrow as a matter of fact.
THANKS!
Joe

Thanks everyone!!
Put a few more miles on her and everything seems great!! It rides really nice for a big car. Getting lots of double takes......
It was big hit at the show I took it to last weekend as well. Lots of fun!

OK, so it’s been a while, and I’m not used to self-promotion, but this past November at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals, the 55 won the “Traditional Homebuilt Heaven” award.
The other day a friend sent me a link to the Goodguys website and apparently my car is up for “Traditional Home Built” of the year. It’s membership online voting.
Anyway, if you or any friends are Goodguys members go to the website under the promotions tab. Maybe we can get the Olds to win....
Car has been a blast and everyone loves it.
Thanks!

No offense to anybody else. There are a lot of really talented guys on here but I think this is the most awesome build I have seen in my 12 years on this site. It is so well planned and built. Congrats on your car.

True statement. Regardless of the flavor of Olds you prefer, this one stands out.
