If Keeping the interior gold.
What other color would you consider painting this car, Other than keeping it the original paint color.

I like the guts. Personally I love black...I know it lacks imagination, but I like it. IMHO any exterior color would at worst not clash with the interior, save the money and leave inside alone, assuming the condition warrants no repairs. PS nice looking ride.

Al. Let me tell my story. You veiwed my pictures of the 68- 98 convert .I tried to keep it as original as factory, except the interior which is custom with fabric inserts ,converts are a hot B----h in the sun to set on .anyway i thought I would get some trophies in shows, no way nobody wants a white car everyone that wins has a RED car unless its a muscle car then its all the stripes and decals that win . I think Burgundy with matching interior or white interior would get rave reviews and trophies .
Anyone interested to see my pics send me your e-mail address for invitation to wal-mart photo .

So what does the family have against Sable? The paint looks good in the pics; way too good to change, but that's just my opinion.
You've about got to stick with a dark color to make that interior work.
My vote is leave the paint alone and put the money into something else.

well, if the wife and kids are springing for the paintjob, then its a tough choice...because i agree that your car looks really nice the way it is, and the paint itself certainly looks to be in great shape.
but if i had to pick another color out of the choices youve given us, i would have to say eggplant or black.
ive wanted to repaint my olds for the longest time, and i wanted it to be black because it would look sharp and sinister. but the more i think about it, i feel it deserves to stay its same color...kinda. i really like the factory blue, but i want something with a little more punch, so when i get the funds, im going to paint it a factory corvette color from 1971, and i believe its called lemans or lucerne blue..i cant remember which was the one i liked more. i like this solution because it still looks factory, but it leaves the original personality of the car.

I was also thinking Eggplant would be an interesting color. Truthfully, they are interesting... vegetables as well.
Ultimately, I had to go with black. The luxo barge looks best when dressed in a tuxedo.

i think eggplant is actually a dark purple, burgundyish color. which i do think would look very interesting on your convertible. your suggestion got me thinking of other colors like that, and i thought of the black cherry color that was on the 1994-1996 impala ss, like this.

maybe not the best pic of and impala with the color, but it gives you the idea.
but you could never go wrong with black. the car would look really sharp.

OH, ok I see now that it is a purple tint. If it was very, very deep, bordering on black it would be cool. I am not a painter but couldn't one use a black base-coat with an eggplant pearlescant over-coat?
That would resemble black cherry which is really pretty too, I think GM was offering something like it a few years back, but don't have any pics handy for comparison. Eggplant leans more to the purple end of the spectrum, and he is looking at having it done in a solid shade. IMHO I liiiike it!
. P S I voted for black, I want to change it to eggplant. Can I do that?
I can't tell if this is a hypothetical question or they're really "making" you paint the car another color. If it's a hypothetical, out of the ones you picked, I'd probably go with the black. I don't think I'd like the other colors on your car. With that said, is it your car or theirs? If it's yours, tell them tough, because the color on the car at the moment is great. Not only does it look sharp on the car, but it really fits not only the car, but also the era from which it came. Sorry, but I'd stand firm on that.
[quote=69convertible;53773]Thanks for all the replies everyone. I Photo-shopped the attached pic. The family leaning this way.
any one have a RED 88 or 98 with the sandlewood interior[/quote
The car you photoshopped looks stunning in Red. Personally, I'd love it in a metallic deepwater blue. It would have awesome detail under bright lights or in the sun + it would go with a saddle interior.
