It's similar to the 9" Ford, and if anything tougher. Just no aftermarket support now, though it was the rear of choice for hardcore drag racers for years. Used 1957-64 on Olds and Pontiac. You probably have 3.08 or 3.23 gears in there, possibly 2.93's.

You could have a Holiday Sports Sedan (24791 built) or a Luxury Sedan (17346). Luxury Sedan has a small window behind the rear door glass.

These are the best cars ever! I own a 1964 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan. It is awsome driving it during nice weather with the windows down.

You're about to find out about Oldsmobile's different suppliers.

64 big cars could have Moraine or Bendix power brakes, and master cylinders and boosters do not interchange between the two.

Easiest way I know to tell the difference is the Moraine booster is physically larger and has dimples on its face, and the MC cap is held on with a wire bail.

Bendix booster is smaller, smooth faced and MC usually have a screw-on cap. The Bendix is way easier to find at the parts store. You'll probably have to order it thru CarQuest or NAPA. A big discount chain won't have a clue what you need.

Make sure the vacuum check valve on the booster is in place and functional. You may also have a frozen wheel cylinder on one wheel which will make you think the booster's gone out.
