Can a 73 ninety-eight with the 455 burn rubber?

Can a stock 1973 olds ninety-eight burn rubber from a stand still on dry pavement?

Any BBO can smoke the hides, providing the engine is in excellent tune. The object in racing is not to go up in smoke or you'll be buying new tires often.

yeah i concur. I was just wondering about the power. I recently bought one of these land yachts and before i fix it up to running condition i wanted to know the power. how fast can these be in top condition? Whats the zero to 60 time? or how else can i equate the speed/acceleration?

Welcome to the wondful world of Oldsmobile! I don't know any 0-60 times or quarter mile times for stock engines; however, if you tune up your car it will go quite a bit faster than you would want to go that is for sure.

225 to 275 horses on your stock engine. Upgrade to C heads and a decent cam and your in the 400 hp arena. Back in 1981, we took an old 74 88 and gutted it, put in one of those BBO's. It did 14.30's all day long and took King of the Hill that day. If the vehicle is appealling to you, then go for it. Nothing beats an Olds in comfort or bang for the buck!! Don't expect great 0 to 60 miles per hour times, these things come in strong at midrange and top end. Best of luck!
