Not sure what you mean. Is this on the carb? The fuel pump is located forward on the engine low, below the a/c compressor if you have a/c, the fuel pump draws the fuel from the tank and pumps it into the carb. I guess you could actually call it a fuel "sucker".

I'm thinking he's talking about that rubber seal on the carburetor that goes the shaft for the accelerator pump. Maybe not.

Unhappy stumped

The fuel pump is fine. The line was clogged from old gas but I think I have that cleared. There is a loop in the fuel line that comes up into the trunk. When I lift that loop, one end is open ended going nowhere. Maybe there was a rubber length that rotted off which extended into the tank? And the fuel filter seems to have fallen off. I cant find any replacement filters on line. I wish I had a picture or drawing that would help me with how this is supposed to be working. Is there a chiltons or similar manual on this? I have a shop manual which has little to no reference to the fuel line, pump or filter other than the latter should be cleaned periodically.

Is your car a factory air conditioned car? Or not? That makes a difference with what lines go where.

Your fuel filter is not located along the frame like a newer car. Your fuel filter is located in a housing with a glass bowl, attached to the oil fill tube. The fuel line runs up from the pump to this housing, then out of the housing and into the carburetor.
