Any thoughts as to a good long lasting set of mufflers that sound good. thinking about Walkers(Turbo) un-sure as to number application,I have used this manufacture in the past.
Are Resonators of any benifit?
Looking for some advise as to a reasonable sounding system, not to be confused with a hot rod.

You could always order from Fusicks. I believe they make reproduction exhaust components. They would be expensive but factory correct, or as close to it as you are going to get.

I have not used Walker turbos but from what people on here say, I think you would be pleased. You may want to consider putting in an H pipe to cut down on the roar. If you are really going high performance, an X pipe is probably better. I don't think resonators would benefit you any. They were used to muffle more of the sound. A good muffler shop should be able to fix you up. Beware that prices and quality do vary so getting a referral from somebody first hand is a good idea.

Your exhaust runs throuh holes in the X frame rails and you won't be able to install an H or X pipe as your exhaust routes to the outside next to the frame rails rather then close together like the newer cars. You might consider a pair of smittys they have the 50's sound. Had them when I had the 371 in my 57 sounded great. Find a good muffler shop as it takes some skill to do all of the bends

We just keep on learning about these old cars. I know if it were my car, I would go with the Smitty's for the period correct sound. I think those old 303-394's are the sweetest sounding car there is with a set of Smitty's on them. They just talk to you.

Thanks to "redoldsman" and of course "citcapp". After much googleing, I choose a Walker Muffer. Tues I will get the number for anyone interested.
They appear like stock mufflers 2 1/4 off set. These series are installed on my Torino GT(frame off) really not frame off it is a 3400lb unibody.(Its for sale, by the way, after it leaves the paint shop!!)
The Walkers appear factory and are aluminized. Talked to Fusick, they no longer supply exhaust/ but Walker was a front runner.
Summary, thanks for your rapid imput. I will leave THE RESONATORS OFF.

Olds 64: FYI: Slected mufflers are Walker # 17747 no resonators.
2 1/4 inch... hope to have installed in a few weeks. will let you know.
