Just became the proud owner of a '62 F-85 Cutlass. The previous owner stalled on their attempted restoration, so I have some work ahead to get it back together. The car came with lots of spare/duplicate parts which will help the process. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as I progress and will post plenty of pictures.

I worked over the engine block with a soda blaster this afternoon. Did a great job of cutting through about 1/4" of grime and sludge. I'll post some pictures of the finished product soon.

My plan is to work through the mechanical systems first (engine, trans, suspension, and brakes), then tackle the rusted floor pans and other body work. Currently debating a rebuild of the factory 4 barrel or replacement with a new edelbrock carb and intake. I plan to use the car regularly once I finish, so reliability is critical. Any thoughts?

You can rebuild the stock carb and still use it I drove a bombed out 1963 F-85 conv for years and found it to be one of the most reliable cars I ever owned
