Wow is all I can say about the size of nest I found in my Passenger bucket seat yesterday behind the rear cover...........

All I can say is I`m glad it was empty or I would have been toast lol

Last year I went to pop the hood on my '66 88 and found a live nest behind the battery...I went screaming like a little sissy girl after being stung between the eyes, ankle and arm pit. Had to smoke them out just to close the hood.

can you imagine how pissed those wasps would have been if somone had sat down in the seat while they were in there? I don't even want to picture that...

When i was tearing down my old deck a few years back i kept having a few random hornets bugging me while i was doing it...

After the whole thing was down- there was just this big chunk of wood, part of an old beam that was sunk into the ground and had been supporting the stairs. I put my crow bar on that and pulled it- and holy ****- i was instantly stung about 50 times. Went to the emergency room. my whole head swelled up.

About a week later- i went out at night and a much longer stick of wood- and pulled that beam over- There was about a beach ball sized hornets nest under it in the ground!!

when I opened it up I actually was startled and headed for the door
these have been in storage awhile not sure if it was built before I got them or after

the headrest bar actually goes right into the centre of the nest... wouldn`t want to pull that up with those buggers in there

Wow glad you found out about that now before someone's butt got stung.
Finding loaded surprises like that in salvage yards during summer is no fun either. I realized a few years ago that I really CAN run fast.

But like they all say, "It could be worse..."

Noone will be stealing this old car anytime soon. Yellowjackets are some of the worst to encounter.

Ya know, I always think that it would be nice to get down to Arizona to go through the junk yards lookig for parts, but then I think, hmm, killer bees, rattle snakes, scorpions and tarantulas....never mind.

To be honest, I do not remember where that picture came from. I got it many years ago from a friend. It looks pretty real but the bugs look more like bees (on the window) than yellowjackets. It DOES look like sci fi though!
The facilities guys at work had the fun chore of removing a 26" long by 18" wide bee hive from the side of our building last fall. I saw that - it was something else...

That ain't no thang, I've seen bigger nests in kiddie playhouses.

Tear off a heavy wood shake roof in the late summer if you want to get some good biting and stinging bug action going.
The A/C service guys always used to shoot freon at the nests and hives inside the compressor housings to get rid of them but I guess that's frowned upon now?
Mix fuel oil, bleach and dishwashing detergent together and pour it down the ground wasp holes then light it on fire, sparklers work good for lighting them, just shove it in the hole, light the sparkler first BTW.
It will burn for days, the eternal flame of bug destruction.
The dude who blowed up his backyard pouring gasoline down the mole and vole holes then lighting it just had bad technique.
