Replacing Mirror Glass

Has anyone taken on the task of replacing the glass in their inside rear view mirror? How do you open the housing without damaging it? If anyone has had a business do this for them and had great results, I would love to send some work their way. Thanks for any info.

I've heard of this being done. The rubber seal around the rear view does get pretty hard but peeps who have done this successfully say to remove the mirror from the car, then put it face down in boiling hot water for a few minutes to get some flexibility on the rubber. Work carefully and repeat the heating as needed.
