Need advice - seat buttons pop off

Need advice - seat buttons pop off
I just bought my first cutlass. A 72 with a 10 year old resto.The interior was very nicely done by the previous owner. It looks great except the button tops keep coming off when you slide across the seat. Could someone suggest a fix?

Someone mentioned glue. Since I don't have extra parts to experiment with, I thought some folks have come across this before. Changing buttons to one piece plastic would be a last choice.These are two piece. The top is wrapped in vinyl and is pressed on to the bottom.
